March 11 – What to Do With Your Post Player

bogues-bradleyBasketball is becoming an increasingly athletic game. Back-to-the-basket post players are a dying breed and “Position-less” basketball (the ability to put the 5 best players on the court, regardless of position) appears to be the future of the game.

However, that is not to say there is no longer a place for the “Big Man”. To the contrary, quality post players can give your team a decided advantage over a smaller, quicker team if used properly.

The question becomes, “How do we best utilize our Post Player(s)?” in a game that currently favors athleticism on the perimeter (read: “hot stove touch fouls”), but makes the lane a war zone.

We believe there are many ways to utilize your post players without sacrificing their height advantage. Today we give you 20 minutes worth of free video chapters from Drew Hanlen and Randi Peterson, start a 3-part Full Time-Out Series from Rick called “Unplugging the Post”, and offer discounts on videos to further your knowledge and research.
