| Chapter
1: Basic Game Dribbling |
| Chapter
1 explains the three basic dribbling situations that occur
in real games. The techniques in this chapter are basic, but you must master the basics before you can move
onto the advanced stuff taught in the next 6 chapters.
One of the most important aspects to becoming
a great ball handler is to be able to change from one type
of dribble to another - at game speed. This is actually when
most dribbling turnovers occur, but Coach Torbett explains how to avoid
them.

The video's first chapter
covers all the basics. Here, the power dribble is demonstrated
by players, and explained by Coach Rick Torbett. Coach
is talking in the background, as the players demonstrate the
techniques.

The final section of
the first chapter discusses the reasons a player should dribble
in a game. For each reason, two exciting examples are shown
side by side. Here, dribble penetration creates a dunk and

2: DRILLS TO IMPROVE YOUR BALL CONTROL AND HAND SPEED |
|
Better Ball Handling's signature chapter! 12 year old dribbling phenom Andy Garcia demonstrates 115
drills to improve your ball control and hand speed.
A counter in the top right corner of the
screen (see the pictures) will let you know exactly
what number each drill is, out of 115. Each drill is also
named!
The chapter is divided into 10 sections.
Examples include Fingertip Control and 2
Ball Stationary. Some of the drills are so difficult that
even advanced ball handlers need months to master them. #115
might be the toughest drill you've ever seen, but this 12 year
old has it down!!

Andy Garcia at work!
He's exciting, amazing and only 12 years old!
All 115 of the drills he demonstrates will help to improve your
handles. There's going to be at least 20 or 30 drills
from this chapter that are completely new to even the most
experienced players. You'll have a lifetime of drills to work
on.

Most of the chapter
is shown in a format similar to the one to the left.
The drill (in this case the "Double Windmill") comes
in on the left side of the screen, taking up a huge area.
It stays there for about 4 seconds, before moving to the next
two spots for 4 seconds each. In other words, each drill is
actually on screen for over 12 seconds! How else could we
have fit 115 drills into one chapter?

3: STRAIGHT LINE MOVES |
| In
chapter 3, Coach Torbett dissects straight line moves, such
as the Hesitation and Fake Crossover. For
each move, coach explains exactly how the move is executed,
and when it should be used in games. He also gives secrets
to getting the most out of the move, and how to set up your
defender before using the move.

In the picture to the

awesome handles do the demonstrating. It's almost as much fun to watch the players' moves as it is to learn from
Coach Torbett!

direction moves. Examples include the Crossover and
Spin.
Before you move on to advanced moves (chapter five), you must master all of the moves in chapters 3 and
4. All advanced moves are basically an extension of
the moves in these two chapters.

| In
the Advanced Moves chapter, Coach Torbett breaks down some
of the most advanced and unstoppable moves in basketball.
He explains exactly how they work, why the defender will get
beaten if you use them correctly, and when to use them in
games.
Examples of Better Ball Handling's Advanced
Moves include the Half Spin and Lean In and the
Pull Back Crossover.
Although many of the moves are difficult to master,
you can become unstoppable off the dribble, at any level, if you can add them
to your repertoire.

Many of the
advanced moves are to be used against a single defender, but
the
pull-back crossover is used to get out of double teams. Once
you master it, you'll never get trapped and turn the ball
over again. How does it work?

| INTRODUCTION, CONCLUSION,
& FINAL THOUGHTS |

Better Ball Handling also features an intro and a short ending.
But even these sections contain some valuable techniques.
For example, in the intro Coach Torbett explains exactly how the hand and fingers should function when dribbling, and then he goes into a rare but powerful secret to developing great handles.
Better Ball Handling may be Better Basketball's most entertaining video. With Better Shooting, Better 1 on 1 Defense, and Better Passing, Better Basketball's Fundamental Four are the ultimate collection of basketball's fundamentals. |
