The Read and React Clinic

GET 14 HOURS OF READ AND REACT™ CLINIC FOOTAGE!

Better Basketball held a coach's clinic on the Read and React Offense™ in September of '08. It was attended by coaches from all levels, and from all over the world. The primary speaker was of course the R&R's creator, Rick Torbett. In addition, a few coaches who have been running the R&R spoke. Two very different teams demonstrated, a youth team and a college team. Drills and adjustments that are not on the original R&R DVDs were shown.

About the Clinic DVD Set
14 hours of footage from the clinic are now available on a 7-DVD set! These DVDs show: (1) exactly how to implement the Read and React from the ground up, (2) unique ways to customize it to your team’s strengths and your philosophy, and (3) both the youth and college team scrimmaging, giving you live action of the Read and React!

How to Purchase the Clinic DVD Set
The cost of the 7-DVD set is $149.95 + S&H. This set can NOT be ordered from our normal order page, so click here for the special Clinic Footage Order Page. Or, if you prefer to order by phone, call 1-800-Better-B, Extension 0.

More Information
If you have questions about the Read and React Offense, the Read and React 6-DVD set, or the Read and React Clinic Footage 7-DVD set, feel free to contact us and our staff will get your question answered. And if your question is of an advanced Xs and Os nature, Rick Torbett will answer any such high level questions.

Beyond basic questions, some coaches have wanted even more. They’ve wanted the Read and React Offense implemented with their team by those with experience running it. If you fall into this group, and would like Coach Torbett or one of the coaches already running the Read and React to meet with you and your program, contact us for more information.

Thoughts on Video
Many of the coaches who attended the clinic have decided to implement the Read and React Offense with their team this year. We asked a few of them for their thoughts on why they’ll be using this unique system, and four such responses can be viewed by clicking the links below. We will be adding more coaches' responses in the coming weeks.

2008 Read and React Clinic Schedule, to give you an idea of what's on the clinic footage DVDs.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th

5:00pm – 8:00pm REGISTRATION AND DISCUSSION OPPORTUNITIES
Coach Torbett and a few coaches running the system will be there to greet you, and answer your initial questions about the Read and React.
8:00pm – 10:45pm

SESSION 1
Coach Torbett will take a youth team (12 year olds) through the foundation layers of the R&R Offense. The build up drills and teaching techniques will be emphasized. The goal will be to demonstrate that a youth team can have a working, practical, principled offense with only the foundational layers of the Read & React Offense, and to see the foundation layers inserted with great detail. Much of the theory of the Read and React will be discussed.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th

8:00am - 9:30am BREAKFAST (provided) AND DISCUSSION OPPORTUNITIES
9:30am - 12:30pm

SESSION 2
The Read & React Offense will be taught and implemented with a real college men's team. Emphasis will be on HOW to teach the offense in a practical “practice” setting, along with how to get a pre-season head start.

12:30pm – 1:30pm LUNCH (provided) AND DISCUSSION OPPORTUNITIES
1:30pm – 7:00pm

SESSION 3 (with short breaks)
Completion of the Read & React, along with tips, variations, and teaching points from those coaches who have experience running the Read & React Offense. We’ll also explore the variety of looks and sets depending on the strengths, weaknesses, types of players, and coaching philosophy. Again, a men's college team will be used.

7:00pm – 8:30pm DINNER (optional)
8:30-10:00 COACHES SOCIAL (optional)

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th

11:00am - 2:30pm

SESSION 4
We’ll begin late on Sunday. Clinic topics to be covered will include: attacking zones, implementing quick hitters, collapsing practice time frames, sharpening both defense and offense at the same time, how shell defense fits the Read & React, delay games, and more. Again, a men's college team will be used to demonstrate the Read and React Offense.

2:30pm – 6:00pm

CONTINUED DISCUSSION FOR ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS
This “overflow” time will allow for an extension of session 4. And Coach Torbett will remain as long as needed to make sure no questions go unanswered, and no topics go unresolved.
